Dear Little Brother

There is so much value in a little brother. My little brother Justin is great. Through the years I have grown with him and I know that I love him to death. I cant quite say that I have been the best big brother to him but I do try. I want him to be so incredibly happy, I want the best for my little brother.

I have also had the great blessing of being a little brother to an amazing older sister April.  And awesome older brother Jake. Not to mention my spectacular inlaws Owen and Kourtney. All of my syblings are so great they truely are one of a kind.

When I begin to think about the ways I love and cherish my brothers and sisters my mind gets scattered because there is to much to think about. They are really great. They are my family.

April, me, Owen

During my time of service as a missionary I am far from my syblings and often I long for their guidence and advice. My heart skips a beat when I think about them because I love them and just cant wait to see them again.  They are who I want to be like. Often times I see their traits in me (funny how that happens).

Kourtney and Jake (The Newlyweds)

Like I said I struggle with being a good older brother to Justin. But in my defence I think its safe to say that to my older syblings, I have come close to mastering the art of a "Little Brother". Though I often mess up I have come to grips that a little brother is what I do and I had better be good at it. Being a little brother truely is an art, a skill that takes years to develop. To be a little brother it takes a few things. These are some of the things that I have come up with.

~Patience,(James 5:10-11) because your not always going to get what you want. You are the number two guy, they set the example you follow.

~Helpful,(Words of Mormon 1:18) you must always be ready to help. To find something or to go somewhere. If you dont do it the first time your chance is lost and you have to do extra to redeem yourself.

~Plan,(2 Nephi 9:13) always have a plan in mind with a few good ideas to do with them. They will eventually want to spend time with you, be prepared.

Bart (Dad), Justin, Me, Jake

~Adaptable,(Mosiah 5:2) being adaptable is key, your not always going to be doing what you planned so dont choose just one, be flexable. Being with them is your goal.

~Teachable,(1 Nephi 1:1) some of the greatest wisdom will come from your older syblings. Be sure to recieve there guidence. They know there stuff.

~Follow,(2 Nephi 31:12) following your syblings is important. Stick with them they have been around the block. follow there example.

~Represent,(2 Nephi 25:26) you syblings wont always be there, make sure you represent them and stand up for them. Love them, they are your family. Let the world know who your family is.

~Steadfast,(Alma 1:25) be immovible its important that you stand your ground, dont give up on them.

~Submissive,(Mosiah 3:19) you must be submissive to our older syblings, they love you. Everything you do will help them gain their trust in you, this will bring them closer to you.

There is so many things that contribute to being a younger sybling. As we exercise these attributes we develop the ability to look up to those that set good examples for us. Ultimatly, exerciseing these attributes will greatly help us as we follow our greatest example, our Lord and Savior Jesus Chirst.

He knows what is best for us. Be submissive to Him because He does love us, we need to gain his trust and come closer to him. We must be proud to be in His family and never be afraid to let the world know we are a wittness of Him. Be steadfast in Christ, never give up and always represent Him as your family He IS our older Brother.

I know that Christ HAS been there. He does invite us to follow him in faith. to repentanc.e to the waters of baptism, to recieve Holy Ghost and to Endure to the end. He is the greatest teacher, with Him we can obtain salvation, provided we are teachable.

The way to Christ is not easy living but when we are adaptable to His teachings we can recieve Him into our hearts forever, this is his plan. Though it is his plan we do have our freedom of choice if we dont plan to follow Him we wont recieve Him. Be a helpful servent of him he needs us, we are tools in his hands. When we do this we learn to be patient with Christ as He teaches us the lessons of life so that we my grow to be like him.
Jesus Christ - Son of God

As a missionary I wear a nametag everyday. On this name tag there is two names one is ELDER MILLARD, the other JESUS CHRIST. I am hear to represent both of these people. My family as Millard and ofcourse my master Jesus Christ I am grateful to bare there names on my heart.

I do know that Christ is our Elder Brother, that He loves us and died for us on the cross. All of us have an older sybling in our family to look up to His name is Jesus Christ. He is the Chirst, our redeemer. He has set the example for us to follow. I know that he died and now does live for us. He blesses us everyday and we are important to him, SO important. Compared to Him we are nothing, but in His eyes we are everything! I love Him. I love my sisters April and Kourtney. I love my bothers Jake, Justin and Owen. I pray that, to them, I am a good little brother similarly I wish to be a good younger brother to Jesus Christ.

May we all strive to be more like him and exercise trust in himl. let him guide us day by day. I love you all Good bye and Marry Christmas!

Dear Baptism Candidate

My Goal in this post is to lift and inspire those who have ever been invited to be baptized and wondered what it is, what it's like, and why. I have chosen to do this by sharing with you the Journal write of November 19th 2011. The Baptism  of  Henry. (name changed). I chose to do this simply because great things are learned through others experiences. I wittnessed the baptism of Henry and I felt the spirit while there. I hope to help you feel that same spirit as you read about a simple retired man who has chosen to make a promise with our loving Heavenly Father.

Today was Henry's Baptism! It was so amazing. This was my very first time that I had been the Priesthood holder in bapitizing someone. I'm so Grateful for Henry. The whole day leading up to it I was so excited. Elder Ramiah and I simply could not believe that we were having a baptism. When the baptism started we sang a song chosen by Henry "Oh Come All Ye Faithful". There was a talk about baptism and the special convenant that we make. Then Henry and I went down into the Baptismal font. After I had immersed him into the water, Henry closed his eyes for a few seconds and said "....wow". It was so great, and the spirit was very strong.  Afterwards as Henry and I were changing back into some dry clothes I asked him the same question that my father asked me the day that I was baptized when I was eight years old. I said to him "how do you feel Henry? Do you feel different?". After taking a moment Henry aswered back "Believe it or not I do, I feel great... I feel excellent!" He was so happy and he was so grateful for those that supported him.

Oh this brings me so much joy! What a blessing, Zion is Growing! To say the least today was so exhiliarating. We had a few members from the ward come to support Henry and also there were a whoping 12 Elders there to congradulate him. Many of them had the opportunity to teach him at one time or another. Henry was so cool and he could not wait to show his family his baptism program. I love him. I love how true this gospel is. Each of the speakers at his baptism talked alot about enduring to the end, this was awesome. Elder Ramiah and I were so excited. It was the perfect ending to our memorable time together serving as companions. What a great last saturday for us. I love Henry, I love Elder Ramiah, I love my Savior Jesus Christ and watching others fullfill His Doctrine. I am so grateful for this day, to see other's truly live the Gospel of Jesus Christ. What a great day!

Never Get Discouraged!!

In Page 10 of Preach My Gospel it says. "Discouragment will weaken your faith." In a world full of termoil It is important that we do not become discouraged. Often times this seems simple to say but extremely hard to do. When we become discouraged our faith is weaked.

I often find that it is when I am struggling I turn to my Heavenly Father. If I dont get the answers that I want I soon become discouraged. This leads to a weaking of my faith at a time when I so desperatly need stronger faith. I am writing this hopeing others have been through these same situations and at sometime want a little pepper-upper.

We should turn to God with faith that is motivated and strong. Never let yourself get down. Never sell yourself short of the blessings that we have the ablity to obtain, if we just hold out our Heavenly Father will soon be there!
One of my favorite scriptures to read is in John chapter fourteen verse 27. "Peace I leave with you. my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth give I unto you, Let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid."

We are not ment to be afraid. These things drive the spirit away. Heavenly Father is there with us every step of the way. We just have to remember the resources He has given and USE them. A good friend of mine once told me this while telling me about the sciptures, he said, "STUDY THEM! They are given to us from God for our guidence. This life is an open book test, we wont get in trouble for cheating!"

Jesus Carrying a Lost LambHeavenly Father loves you so much he will always be waiting with open arms to us. Pray to him and he will listen. Pray sincerly with an open heart, and you will recieve His guidence. Dont spend your life waiting for God to find you, He has been waiting your whole life for you to find Him.

Always remember that Heavenly Father is there. Through your trials and through your joys. He is there to comfort you, to listen to your stories and complicating situations. We can be "encircled about eternally in the arms of his love." (2 Nephi 1:15).

I testify that I know these things are true, NEVER be discouraged and look forward with faith! Be diligent and hold out and it will all be worth every effort in the end. I know he loves us. I really do believe it with all my heart.   :)

BECOMING a better YOU

Have you ever been having a terrible time, and you find yourself thinking..."why does it have to be like this", "why is God putting me though this"? I usually find myself doing this when I am going through trials. This often causes one to think or question what are purpose in life is.

Me feeling lousy and thinking "why is
God putting me through this".

One of the essential reasons we are even here together on this earth is so that we can all have the opportunity to learn and to grow. The trials that we endure are to build us stronger. They help us as we BECOME the children of God that He wants us to be. In the Book of Mormon we read in Mosiah chapter 23 verse 21 "Nevertheless the Lord seeth fit to chasten his people; yea, he trieth their patience and their faith." During this time in the Book of Mormon the people of Alma are living in peace, but the Lord wanted the people of Alma to learn, grow, and come closer to Him. He does this by testing there faith.

In the Epistle of James we read "that the tying of our faith worketh patience." James 1:3. Through the trying of our faith we BECOME  better son's or daughter's of our Father.

Me as I BECOME a better
 deciple of Christ

Life is all about BECOMING, so that we can prepare ourselves to meet God. We BECOME stronger, we BECOME humble, we BECOME Christlike. I testify that we can obtain the Glory that our Father has prepared for us.  We obtain it by striving to make our weakness's BECOME strong. It is my prayer that the next time we think "why is God putting me through this" or "why does it have to be like this" we can recognize that what we should be thinking is "what can I learn from this" or "what is God trying to help me to BECOME".

With all my love Elder Tyler Millard

And so it begins....

Hello I am Elder Tyler Millard. This is my first day on my blog, as much as I would love to make some grand entrance and say some amazing profound things I thought I would just tell you a little bit about me. I as you already know I am a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Right now I am serving here in Crescent City with my awesome companion Elder Dylan Blowers from the sweet state of Alabama. I come from Utah and am very happy to claim it. I love serving a mission.

Some think we are 1 million percent crazy to do this sort of thing but thats where the fun of it lies. We come out on our missions with tons of complete strangers! Even our companions are strangers to us. We speak with people from many different backgrounds and many do not care to listen. On top of it all we actually pay to do it. I am here to testify that it is so worth it.

We come here to "Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end." PMG page 1. This is our purpose. We do this because we have followed the same instruction that we give to people everyday. We have prayed to know the truth through the Holy Ghost. After we have prayed, exercised our faith and have gained a testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ we desire to share it. We have made the decision to share what we know and have decided to make a commitment to spend two years serving the Lord. There is so much joy in doing this work. It is amazing. Sometimes it is hard and discouaging it is a great site to see the Lords hand our work. I truly have seen our message change peoples lives, always for the better.

I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior. I know that He lives. He has the power to bring families together, to relieve us from all of the guilt and shame that you and I have ever felt. I testify that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love us so dearly. I know that this Church is true. It is my prayer that everyone will have the strength, willingness and humility to sincerally ask Heavenly Father in prayer to know the truth. Ask Him something you would like to know. "Do you love me?" "Is the Book Of Mormon true?" "Is this message true?". I know that when you do this you will recieve and answer.

Dont forget to pray.
